How Do I Fix An Error Sending A Command To Word 2007?

Windows is believed to be full of weird error messages that I have written many posts about, so in this post I will share another weird message. I recently came across this post:

 There was a problem sending a command to support the program 

I encountered this error when trying to open web links from an organization’s mailer. If I just click on the link this error message appears and then I open Internet Explorer with a blank page! Not exactly what I wanted!

Upon further investigation, I found myself getting this error in case I opened other file types not only directly from my email program, but also from the Internet. For example, suppose Itrying to open a Word document or Excel file from my best email message, I get an error followed by a version from Word or Excel, but it doesn’t display the actual file. p>

After several attempts, the problem was finally resolved. I’m not sure which step fixed the problem, I’m just going to list exactly all the different parts I’ve tried and hope something works for you.

Method 1. Check The Program Link

The first thing to do is check and make sure the shortcut to any program like IE or Excel is probably not running as administrator. Right-click the shortcut and select Properties. Then go to the Compatibility tabs and make sure the Run as administrator box is unchecked.

Method 2. Uninstall Office Viewer

If you have installed any version of Office Viewer other than Microsoft Office, be sure to visit and uninstall Office Viewer first. If you have an older version of Office Viewer with the newer version of Office disabled, you may experience this problem problem.

Method 1 – Reset IE / Disable Add-ons

If you’re having this problem mostly with IE 8 and IE 9, you can try resetting IE completely, and sometimes try disabling add-ons and see what happens. I already wrote an article on how to apply IE 9 issues and this situation describes the steps to achieve the above two.

Almost The Fourth Method – Disabling Anti-virus Programs

Sometimes antivirus software and these problems can be the cause. Your best bet is to completely uninstall AVG, Kaspersky, ZoneAlarm or any other useful antivirus program, reboot your hard drive and see if the irritation goes away or not.

Every 5 Ways – Delete The Word Data Save Key

For Microsoft Word, you can try reprogramming the registry key that was only used to store certain settings and alternatives, and it won’t hurt if you delete it. Word registry information is important and has been known to sometimes cause successful problems. If most people delete them, they will be recreated the next time they open Word.

The Half Dozen Method – Excel Dynamic Data Exchange

If you need to do this with Excel, here are some solutions you can try. Open Excel and click the Office Colossal Button, then click Excel Options.

Now just click “Advanced” in the left scissor menu and uncheck the box that basically says “Ignore other applications that use dynamic data exchange (DDE)”.
